Flower City Brass

Since its inception in 2016, Flower City Brass has grown to become one of the United States' leading young brass ensembles. The quintet was most recently in Aspen, Colorado as fellows of the American Brass Quintet @ Aspen Music Festival Seminar. In today’s ever-changing musical world, FCB serves as an eclectic performance outlet of both the old and the new. Seeking to not only champion the standard brass quintet repertory, FCB has also premiered multiple contemporary works that stretch the more traditional boundaries of the brass quintet idiom. In 2018 the FCB were featured as  quarterfinalists in the inaugural Philip Jones Brass Ensemble Competition—the only American ensemble invited to attend. In 2018, the quintet was invited to attend the third annual Stockholm Chamber Brass Academy where, in addition to working extensively with the SCB, they collaborated with composers Mike Svoboda and Alfred Jimenez in premiering Jimenez’s new work, Gasps for Brass Quintet. During the fall of 2018, Flower City was featured at the Electro Brass Conference in New York City. FCB has also been a featured ensemble with the world-renowned Eastman Wind Ensemble, performing Jeff Tyzik’s New York Cityscapes.
